Fionella was a renowned elementalist, specialising in water and earth, when her village was attacked by a family of flame dragons. In addition to their fiery breath, the dragons attacked with tooth and claw and dropped boulders and debris upon the village. Fionella and other elementalists in the village joined together with the village’s warriors to fight the dragons, but their powers proved ineffective. The villagers had no choice but to flee to a nearby set of caves, though they could not outrun the dragons. Fionella distracted the dragons with a great and intricate working of water and earth magic. Creating an ever-shifting web over the village and impeding the dragons movement. The dragons focussed their efforts on her and she suffered hideous burns over most of her body. Despite the pain, she maintained her focus on her many spells until the last of the villagers had escaped.
As the last villager made it to safety, Fionella collapsed into the mud around her and dragons dove to feast upon her. As they were about to reach her, the All-Father appeared standing five metres tall and with a mighty shield and a sword of white flame. The eldest dragon’s snout was shattered on his shield as it dove and his sword clove the head clean from the neck of the next eldest. The eldest dragon, Baraxos, fell to the ground, too stunned to move. The rest of the family fled. The All-Father’s sword and shield vanished as he bent to the ground and scooped the dying Fionella up to his bosom. He spoke quietly to her and her wounds were healed.
Speaking aloud, he was heard by all the Okchakko. He proclaimed that for her heroism and dedication, the All-Mother had decreed that Fionella be ascended to the heavens, be recognised as the patron of the Okchakko, and be granted the title of The Single-Minded.
Fionella bound Baraxos and took him with her to the heavens where she devoted herself to taming him. He became the first dragon to be tamed and, later, after dragons were gifted with intelligence, he was the first dragon to become a god. To this day, Baraxos serves Fionella with a fierce loyalty.
